An interactive installation at Kulturnatten
About the project
Together with a group of friends from school we created this immersive interactive installation at kulturnatten. We wanted people to feel the plants and feel connected to the plants and have the feeling of life in plants and nature by touching them. So we created a system with Arduino, Touch Designer and MaxMSP where everytime you touch one of the four plants it says a sound and adjust the particle system on the screen in different ways. That way you get instant interactive response when you touch a plant and feel that when you touch a plant it changes. The four different plants says four different sounds, so the idea was that you can both create your own plant music and visualize it as you like with the four different plants or even more.
We created this interactive space and experience to put focus on the plants and nature and to tell people that we are much more a like than many think. To tell people that us humans are not that greater than nature and trying to tell people that we have to be much more equal with the plants, nature and other animals in the world. We put focus on the word Specicism which means that we have a tendency to feel like us humans are more worth than the plants and animals in this world, but did we know that we have about 40-60% of the same genes as a cactus?
